Carl Curtis Shadle , 86, of 33 Harvest Lane, Hegins, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

He was born on Friday, June 10, 1927, in Hegins Twp., a son of the late Curtis Issac and Jennie (Miller) Shadle.

He was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp. High School.

He was a food inspector for the Pa Department of Agriculture .

He was a member of F&AM Valley Lodge 797 Valley View and enjoyed raising various farm animals.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Franklin C. Shadle, and his sister, Lucinda J. Warmkessel.

He is survived by three nephews, Jeffrey R. Warmkessel of Lakewood, NJ, Curtis Shadle of Galeton, William Shadle of Tennessee; a niece, Jennie E. Maher of Langhorne; a sister-in-law, Carole Shadle of Elizabethtown; brother-in-law, Ray H. Warmkessel of Wyomissing, PA.

Services were held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, with the Rev. Michael C. Klahr officiating. Burial was in Fountain Community Cemetery, Hegins.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
