Betty J. Erdman, 86, of 124 Fearnot Road, Lykens, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 at Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest C. Erdman who passed away May 3, 1991.

Betty was born in Erdman, on July 17, 1927, a daughter of the late Beulah (Hain) and Charles R. Klinger.

She attended Kessler's School, Erdman.

In her earlier years Betty was employed at Muskin Shoe Factory and picked grapes at Romberger's Vineyard, and for the largest part of her life was a homemaker.

An active member of Zion Lutheran Church she was a past Parish treasurer, the current financial secretary, and responsible for setting up for Sunday worships. She was also a member of the Women's Organization.

She enjoyed baking and quilting and spending time with her family.

Betty is survived by two sons, Lamar E., husband of Karen Erdman, of Sacramento; Randy L., husband of Jane Erdman, of Ashland; a daughter, Sharon Strohecker, wife of Leonard, Jr. of Erdman; She is also survived by seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles D. Klinger, of Erdman.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Catherine Kissinger, Floyd Klinger and Isabelle Oxenrider.

Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Zion Lutheran Church, Erdman, with the Rev. Jonathan Jenkins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Memorial Fund, PO Box 71, Klingerstown, PA 17941.
