Bessie E. Holdeman, 91, of Birch St., Reading, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Reading.

She was born on Thursday, October 13, 1921, in Valley View, a daughter of the late Albert and Catherine (Lubold) Scheib.

She was employed as a seamstress working at the Oscar Stutzman Factory until it closed and then worked at the Hegins Factory.

She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hegins Fire Company.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Roy (Shad) Holdeman, and by one sister, June Goudy.

She is survived by a daughter, Gloria Kissinger and her companion Malcolm Kroninger of Reading; a son, Kenneth Holdeman and his wife, Deborah, of Hegins; two granddaughters, Kelly Shannon and her husband, Steve, Desiree Neiswender and Rick; four grandsons, Randall Kissinger and his wife, Merita, Curt Kissinger, Cristopher Holdeman and his wife, Tiffany, Derek Neiswender and Loretta; and seven great grandchildren.

Services were held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Monday, Aug. 12, with Rev. Warren Egebo officiating. Burial will be made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins at a later date.
