Bernard D. Forth, 85, formerly of Pine Grove, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 at Rest Haven nursing home, Schuylkill Haven.

Born June 5, 1927 in Pine Grove Township, he was a son of the late R. Emil and Gertrude E. Wolfe Forth.

A 1945 graduate of Pine Grove High School, Bernard worked as a bailer for the former Fox-Knapp Mfg., Pine Grove.

He was a T/5 with Co. B., 126th Signal Service Battalion, in the Army during World War II. He received the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

Bernard was a member of Jacob's Lutheran Church, a life member of Pine Grove VFW Post 3234, Pine Grove American Legion Post 374, Mount Etna Fire Company and Bethel Fire Company.

Surviving are a sister, Shirley Schaeffer, Schuylkill Haven; two nieces, Carol Searle and Mary J. Buzalka; great-nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4 at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Barry Spatz officiating. Interment was in Jacob's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove. The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, donations be given in his memory to Children's Hospital, McGuire Memorial Home, 2119 Mercur Road, New Brighton, PA 15066.
