Arlene A. Swinehart, 91, of Pitman died Saturday, September 8, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband Mark L. Swinehart who died March 18, 2005.
Born Monday, November 1, 1920 in Pitman, she was a daughter of the late Peter S. and Beula E. (Wehry) Stehr. She was known as the "Super" of the family farm and considered farming not only a profession but a hobby as well.
She was a member of Hepler's Church of God and taught children's Sunday School.
Arlene was a member of the former Daughters of the American Revolution of Pitman and the Woodmen of the World Lodge 433 of Pitman.
She loved family, gardening and flowers, enjoyed reading and going to the Left Fork Hunting camp in Clinton County.
Surviving are six children, Janet Stein and her husband Gary of Williston Vt., Barbara Snell and her husband Richard of Palmerton, Gail Sim and her husband Dan of Mechanicsburg, Trudy Umholtz and her husband Larry of Hegins, Carol Phillips and her husband Dave of Shamokin and Mark Swinehart and his wife Louann of Pitman; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother Edward Stehr, and his wife Lydia of Leola; four sisters-in-law, Edna Swinehart, Gladys Swinehart, Martha Stehr, Rhea Schreffler; a special niece, Grace Wetzel, and other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kermit and Willard Stehr.
A closed casket viewing was held on Tuesday, September 11 at Helper's Church of God, Pitman, where the funeral followed with Rev. Andy Weaver officiating. Interment was in Hepler's Cemetery.
