Alvin F. "Stoney" Michaels, 81, of Williamstown, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at home.
Born in Williamstown, Dec. 14, 1931, he was a son of the late Harold and Alma Brown Michaels.
Stoney graduated from the former Williamstown High School, Class of 1953.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and also served and retired from the Army National Guard, 28th Infantry, at Indiantown Gap.
He was retired from the maintenance department of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
Stoney was of the Protestant faith.
He was a life member of Williamstown VFW and Williamstown Fire Company.
Stoney was a coach for the Williamstown Rams and the Little Vikes football programs for more than 30 years. He was also very active with the Williamstown community pool, where he served on the committee for more than 40 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Marlin and Clair Michaels.
Surviving are two daughters, Adriane L. Bergey and her husband, Tab, and Meredith L. Michaels, both of Williamstown; a brother, Ralph Michaels, Tower City; three sisters, Linda Challenger and Carol Deiter, both of Williamstown, and Kay Williams, Carlisle; four grandchildren, Dustin and Brooke Bergey and Alysha and Lacey Bixler; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 16 from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City. Interment with full military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
