SPRING GLEN - A Spring Glen man is in Schuylkill County Prison after he allegedly sliced his girlfriend's throat.
Police said Joshua Thurman, 25, attacked Natalie Barr, 33, at 34 Schoolhouse Road on the evening of Wednesday, Jan. 18 while the two were on their front porch. The incident occurred between 9:50 and 10:50 p.m., police said.
Police said Thurman used a box cutter to slice Barr's throat and then knocked her to the ground, where he struck her in the face and the head before a neighbor stopped the assault.
Police said Barr was taken by ambulance to Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street, where she was treated and released.
Thurman was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Carol A. Pankake, Tremont, where he was unable to post $250,000 straight cash bail and was remanded to prison.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Thurman is charged with attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats and possession of drug paraphernalia.
