New business manager hired at Tri-Valley

HEGINS - Tri-Valley School Board voted 6-1 last Wednesday evening to appoint Mrs. Jodie Dermo as business manager of the Tri-Valley School District.

Director Donald Buffington cast the only no vote. Directors Marylou Kline and Dianne Dietrich were absent from the meeting.

According to the agenda, the board agreed upon a contract for a term of five years, commencing on or before November 19, through June 30, 2017.

According to Superintendent Mark Snyder, Dermo will begin at a starting salary of $55,000 and will receive a 3.5% increase each year of the contract.

The board also approved a motion to compensate Mrs. Patsy Bowman for all unused vacation leave at her current per diem rate following her effective date of retirement, yet to be determined.

In other business, the board regrettably accepted the resignation of elementary teacher Sally Reinoehl, for retirement purposes, effective, Friday, Jan. 4, 2013.

The board voted unanimously to appoint the following coaches and salaries for the 2012-13 school year: Robert Felty Sr., varsity baseball, $3,000; Doanld Klinger, assistant baseball, $2,030; Martin Shade, varsity softball, $4,000; Daniel Dietrich, assistant softball, $2,030; Richard Kline, assistant softball, $3,000; Debra Barry, Jr. Hi softball, $1,580; Kevin Scheib, assistant wrestling, $2,690.

Justin Welker was appointed as a volunteer coach for the 2012-13 school year.

The following were added to the substitute teacher listing: English, Kevin Keating, Kaitlyn Stutzman and guest, Nadine Galloway and Nichole Nedinsky.

Darlene Rissinger was appointed as a substitute van driver for the district.

Student council will host a powder puff football game on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Tri-Valley High School Athletic Stadium.

Wednesday, Nov. 4, in the high school cafeteria; reorganization meeting, Monday, Dec. 3, high school cafeteria and regular meeting, Wednesday, Dec. 12, high school auditorium.
