SPRING GLEN – Firefighters from Schuylkill and Dauphin counties battled a smoky blaze August 23 at Michael’s Food Industries, Hubley Township.
Sacramento Fire Company Chief Ronald Radel said crews were called just before 9 p.m. to the business at 191 Quaker Drive and were met with heavy smoke conditions from a building that processes egg byproducts in the production of animal food.
Radel said it appears material caught fire near a dryer located near the roof of the structure.
“We had a lot of smoke when we got here,” he said.
Radel said the fire was contained to the area around the drying unit and no official cause has yet been determined. Damage to the building appears minimal, he said, adding no injuries were reported.
Hegins Area EMS was on the scene and Hegins Township Fire Police directed traffic.
