The Relay for Life of Tri-Valley was held one month ago, plans are already and underway for next year's event.

The committee and team members met last Sunday at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church to hold a wrap up party as well as discuss next year's events.

The Relay for Life of Tri-Valley will celebrate its 10th year in 2011 and the organizers want to make it the best one yet. The group discussed pros and cons of the last event and although the date has not yet been set for next year, organizers are certain they will move the event to a Friday-Saturday date.

"We haven't set the date for 2011, because we want to work with the Hegins Fire Company before we secure our date to ensure the dates will not be conflicting with each other as they have in the past," said Curtis Zemencik, co-chairperson of the event.

The committee is planning to hold a Autumn festival on Sunday, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m. at the pavilion at the Valley View Gun Club.

The main purpose of the event is to honor all cancer survivors and let them know that they are being thought of throughout the year as the teams hold events to raise funds to fight the disease.

The fall festival is not only open to cancer survivors, all committee, and team members are also invited to come and get in the relay spirit to kick off another season. There will be games, activities, camp fire food and snacks and prizes for all those who attend.

The committee is also looking for ideas to help honor the students of Williams Valley Elementary School, who raise a large amount of money for the event. Ideas and suggestions are welcomed and can be shared at any committee meeting or by emailing the co-chairs at parrecurtis@gmail.com.

Many teams have begun their fundraising for next year's event.
