HEGINS – Despite a recent economic downturn for many firms, a Schuylkill County manufacturer’s successful climb to the top brought recognition January 19, from the state senate.
Ashland Technologies, Inc., was presented with a senate citation by Sen. David G. Argall, R-29.
The Hegins manufacturing plant, located at 218 Dell Road, was ranked as the number one, fastest growing manufacturer in Pennsylvania, according to “Inc. 500 Magazine”. It also ranked as the 55th fastest growing manufacturer in the U.S., and was number 1,464 of the fastest growing businesses in the U.S., the magazine reported.
In accepting the award on behalf of his employees, Ashland Technologies, Inc. President Bill Wydra Jr., thanked his staff for their dedication, and had them gather together for the presentation. Wydra said the company’s goal is to become the first national chain of machine shops, duplicating its successful marketing and production process in locations throughout the U.S.
Founded in 1996, the company employs 35 to 38 people, and manufactures machined and fabricated parts. The plant produces a variety of goods, from amusement park rides, food service products, diesel engine fuel filter relocation systems, to diverse industrial application products.
“All of our employees see this ranking and the award presentation as a great honor,” said John Powers Jr., Ashland Technologies, Inc. Sales Manager.
According to statistics in the magazine, the company generated $1.8 million in revenue in 2005; and $5.7 million in revenue in 2008; and noted a remarkable, 218.4-percent growth rate.
“With an innovative and progressive attitude, along with the conviction to operate with integrity and vision, Ashland Technologies, Inc., has established a reputation of quality and service. Its steady progress is a tribute to key leaders and capable employees who have carried it to its present heights and built a foundation for a bright future,” the Oct. 19, 2009 citation reads.
Argall had an opportunity to meet with Wydra, Manufacturing Manager Roger Strohecker, and several workers on the production floor during the award ceremony.
